Is It Worth the Queue or Just a Bear Trend

We finally checked out 13de Marzo Cafe at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, and one thing became very clear straight away. Timing is everything. This place has been blowing up on social media, and weekend queues can get wild. After seeing the crowd the first time, we made a more brilliant move and returned on a Monday morning. That decision changed the entire experience.

First Impressions
The moment you see 13de Marzo Cafe, you instantly understand the hype. Cute bears everywhere, clean modern design, and a very Instagrammable setup. Every detail feels intentional and polished. It is playful but still stylish, and you can tell this place was built with visuals in mind.

But here is the interesting part. This is not just a cafe created for photos.

The Story Behind the Brand
13de Marzo actually started as a fashion label in Paris by a Chinese designer. The cafe concept came later, and their first cafe in Shanghai went completely viral. The Pavilion KL outlet is their first branch outside China, which explains the buzz around it.

This backstory adds depth to the brand and makes it feel more thought-out than just another trendy pop-up cafe.

The Bear Cup Experience
Every drink comes with a small bear clipped onto the cup. That little detail is the reason people queue, take photos, and post endlessly online. It is cute, simple, and highly effective. You cannot miss it, and yes, it works.

The Coffee
We shared an iced latte priced at nineteen ringgit. It was hot that day, and I had already had my coffee earlier. I was expecting gimmick coffee that looks good but tastes average.

I was wrong.

The coffee was smooth, well-balanced, and genuinely enjoyable. Something I would happily order again, even without the bear attached to the cup. That was a pleasant surprise and probably the biggest win for this cafe.

Food and Seating
This is primarily a takeaway concept. There is no food available, and seating is minimal. You come here for the experience, the drink, and the vibe rather than a long sit-down session.

There is also trendy merchandise available, which fits perfectly with the brand’s fashion roots.

Final Thoughts:

13 de Marzo Café at Pavilion KL delivers more than just a cute cup. Yes, the bear pulls you in, but the solid coffee keeps the experience respectable. If you go at the right time, it is fun, quick, stylish, and stress-free.

Would I queue for an hour on a weekend
Probably not

Would I stop by again on a quiet weekday for a good iced latte
Absolutely

So now I want to know
Are you queuing for the bear, or are you here purely for the caffeine

Visited here mainly for the novelty—like everyone else here. It’s definitely crowded due to the social media fame, with the tiny, detachable "Marzo Bear" clipped to the cups being the star of the show.

Wait Time 2.5/5: The queue on the Sunday noon to order was quick (about 5 minutes), but expect to wait around 20 minutes for your drink to actually be ready.

The Boutique 3/5: Can do some window shopping at their attached boutique while you wait. The items are super pricey, but it’s interesting to see how they incorporate those adorable teddy bears into all their clothing designs. There are 3 big teddy bears around for photo opportunity.

The Drink 3/5: Tried the Red Bayberry & Lychee Fizz (RM 19). It tastes quite a bit like Ribena, but it’s refreshing thanks to the carbonation. The price is slightly on the high side for what it is, but you're paying for the "friend" on your cup.

Service 3/5: Overall, the service was okay. The staff remained polite and handled the busy crowd well.

A fun one-time experience if you want the cute bear accessory, just be prepared for a bit of a wait.

Bcos we had visited the Shanghai outlet, we knew we had to support KL 13DE Marzo. Ok, firstly, the menu was much limited BUT the service was fast (not much queue) N decent seating benches. The prices were comparable to Shanghai’s. Lastly & most importantly, I scored a 13DE Marzo Bear 🐻 (KL version) 🫶🏻

While the bear-attached drinks are incredibly cute and the pricing is fair, the overall experience was a bit frustrating. The wait time was way too long for a cup of coffee. To make matters worse, there are very few seats, making it hard to enjoy your drink on-site. On the bright side, the connection to the clothing store next door is a clever touch. It's a fun place to visit once for the 'vibes,' but the lack of space and slow service might discourage me from returning freque

**HONEST REVIEW ONLY**

Service: 0/5
Drinks were just left there while staff busy chatting. Move like slow motion. Slowly open cup, slowly put bear, no rush at all. Maybe customers are supposed to wait and watch?

Store in charge, please train your staff. Paying customers don’t deserve this kind of attitude and efficiency.

Taste: 1.5/5
Kopitiam drinks taste better, and at least they come fast.

Price: 1/5
Overpriced for this level of service and quality.

Seating: 2/5
Very limited seating outside. Not comfortable.

Waited 30 minutes for ONE coffee on a weekday. Complete waste of time. Won’t come back.

They’ve upgraded from an upstairs shop to a full-sized boutique with a cafe inside. Seating is limited which is common for luxury boutiques like this. Started queuing around 12:30pm, placed my order via QR and paid at the counter by 12:38pm. Drinks took about 20 minutes, and while waiting, we wandered around the boutique. Lots of adorable designs and thoughtful little details.

The latte, though, was too milky for my taste. I could barely catch the coffee flavour. But at RM19 with a complimentary teddy bear, it was still fine overall. Basically in the same price range as Heytea but without the quality. The tiny bear can be pinned or sewn onto bags/clothes, which is honestly very cute. They need to improve the quality of their drinks and not just rely on the novelty of the teddy bear. Overall, still worth trying once and recommended to come early to avoid the long queues during peak hours.
