Sometimes, we do not change hotels for the view, the price, or even the photos. Sometimes, we move hotels to chase a feeling.
For us, that feeling was sinking into one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on. That feeling led us straight to The Westin Kuala Lumpur.
A Legacy Built on Comfort
Westin is not a new name in hospitality. The brand dates back to 1930, born in Seattle, and has built its reputation around wellness, calm, and rest. But above everything else, Westin is famous for one thing: the Heavenly Bed.
So when we found availability in Kuala Lumpur, the decision was easy. We packed up and moved hotels purely for comfort.
Our Stay at The Westin Kuala Lumpur
We checked into Room 2718 on the 27th floor, greeted by city views, quiet surroundings, and that unmistakable Westin calm the moment you walk in.
The bed lived up to its reputation. Deep, plush, supportive, and genuinely hard to leave in the morning. If sleep quality is high on your priority list, this alone may be reason enough to book a stay here.
An Honest Look at the Room
Now for the honest part.
The room itself has seen better days. It feels a little tired and dated, and it is clearly due for a complete refresh. The amenities are very minimal, and if you are expecting modern design or newly renovated interiors, this may stand out immediately.
That said, everything was clean, functional, and quiet, which still matters.
Service and Location Still Deliver
Here is where The Westin Kuala Lumpur continues to shine.
The service is still proper five-star. The staff are warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming. From check-in to daily interactions, the hospitality feels polished and consistent.
The location is also unbeatable. Sitting right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, it is perfect if you want easy access to shopping, dining, and the city’s main attractions without needing long commutes.
Price and Value
We paid 249 Singapore dollars, which is around 765 Malaysian ringgit.
For that price, comfort and service still hit the mark. You may not get the newest room in the city, but you do get excellent sleep, strong service, and a prime location.
Final Thoughts
The Westin Kuala Lumpur is a hotel that prioritises comfort over trendiness. It may not be the most modern property in the city, but it delivers where it matters most: sleep, service, and location.
So the real question is this. Would you choose comfort and location over a brand-new room, or is a full revamp a deal-breaker for you?
I went to The Westin KL for the Ramadan buffet on a Sunday. We parked near the valet parking with two cars—one was a BMW and the other was an Axia. My younger sibling drove the Axia as they had just returned from work, and guess what? The valet staff seemed quite selective about the cars. Even though we paid RM80 for both cars, they only allowed the Axia to be parked at valet after we were scolded. Here’s a reminder: just because someone drives an Axia doesn’t mean they don’t have money. My sibling drove it because it’s easier to navigate in the city and easier to park.
Moving on to the Ramadan buffet, it was a bit strange that the lamb was placed downstairs, and we had to take the escalator to get to it, which was outside. At the time, the escalator was broken. A lot of people complained, asking how a five-star hotel could let this happen. We had to go up and down the stairs a few times just to grab the lamb and some other dishes. The masak lemak salai was okay; the sauce was delicious, but the meat was cut too thick and tough. I’ve never seen salai meat cut so thick before. It definitely needs improvement. Also, it was surprising that there was no sushi, fried noodles, or fried food available.
Now this is a 4.5 star hotel. Luxury, service, and comfort. The bathroom opens up with two doors like a spectacle, a bath and a shower and a separate area for the toilet. Closet is spacious with good quality hangers. The bed a king, is covered in beautiful rich linens. The carpet is plush in this huge room. There is a magnificent outdoor swimming pool with beach, chairs, and fresh beach towels, and bar food and drink that is phenomenal, and not pricey. The hotel is located right in the heart of the shopping district, like you are in Times Square in New York. Tv has good channels. Great view. Fabulous blackout curtains. I’m not giving it five stars because there is a mini fridge but no mini bar—though I realized they have some mini bar packages you can purchase on the menu. Some of the furniture in the room while luxurious could be modernized, but it’s very evident it has been taken very good care of. There was something wrong with my telephone where it kept ringing and I could hear other people’s conversations even though it was on the cradle! So I simply unplugged it. Room service around the clock with an amazing menu.
Stayed here recently and had a great experience. The location is excellent — right in Bukit Bintang and walking distance to major malls, restaurants, and cafes. Very convenient for both business and leisure trips. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, especially the bed. Facilities like the pool and gym were well maintained. Staff were friendly, professional, and very helpful throughout the stay. Breakfast selection was decent, though it can get busy during peak hours. Overall, a very pleasant stay and I would definitely come back again when visiting Kuala Lumpur.
We stayed in the two bedroom apartment, which was very spacious with a great view of the pavilion mall. The location is excellent, right in the heart of Bukit Bintang and close to Bukit Bintang shopping and dining. Breakfast offered a very large spread in the lobby, but the overall quality and taste were disappointing. The WiFi was terrible though- we struggled with it the whole stay. Not to mention the check in/ out experience is really slow since the staff are quite busy chatting to one another instead of assisting people in checking out/in. Overall, a comfortable stay but largely carried by the location and room size
We stayed at the Western for a conference which was also held at the hotel and found it to be an excellent venue. All around the kitchen team are clearly passionate about food and do both western and Malaysian food exceptionally well. The breakfast, the lunch snacks and dinner that were provided at the conference were all outstanding. They often have interactive stations where they will cook you noodles or Lux or eggs and the chefs are so friendly! The rooms are lovely. We were on a club level floor and had excellent views over the area. Lots of high-rise and activity. It is also very convenient in its location to walk to street food locations and also markets. I think this hotel is an excellent choice for everybody who likes to be in the centre of activity and enjoys the hustle bustle of in a city life.
Never regret stay with the westin kl. Helpful staff and amazing service. Location wide was very close to pavilion mall to other mall to.Beautiful view from the room comfort bed too but the only problem is every night i can hear a very noisy bike sound from my from room plus air conditioning have to adjust to auto on/off. Kids love the bath tub and love the tv channel too.. overall good
First time staying at Westin Kuala Lumpur, and the experience was marred by the customer service skills and standard of their Front Office staff (especially the one/team that managed the messages via the Marriott Bonvoy app on 18-Dec). What made the experience more unpleasant was that they knew this stay was for an anniversary occasion.
My previous experience at a 3-star Marriott in KL easily beat this stay at Westin KL - their mastery in customer care and choices of words when communicating were more superior than the Westin KL team's.
It's a shame, I loved my stay at The Westin Desaru as well, the experience was excellent. Later found out that Westin KL is owned by Fraser's Hospitality Trust...that probably explains.
Love the 1 BR. Great service from Havis Dhillon at the front desk. Good breakfast too. The weekend seafood buffet was a little disappointing for my relatives as they were hoping for some sashimi. Laksa at buffet was delicious.
Every visit to KL brings me back to The Westin. It truly feels like my home away from home. The location is unbeatable, right next to the Pavillion mall, with endless dining and shopping options just steps away.
What really sets this hotel apart is the exceptional staff and outstanding service. For my birthday, my husband had a very special request, and the team fulfilled it effortlessly and with such warmth. Every stay, I’m treated like family and genuinely cared for.
The Westin is, without a doubt, my top choice in KL, and I recommend it wholeheartedly to everyone, friends, family, and anyone looking for an unforgettable stay.
We had an absolutely amazing stay at The Westin Kuala Lumpur for 4 nights. The check-in experience was quick and smooth, and we were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded from our King Club Room to a One-Bedroom Apartment!
The apartment was huge, beautifully designed, and had everything we could possibly need — a full-size refrigerator, tea kettle, microwave oven, and even a Nespresso machine! The bed was super comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious with a separate shower cubicle.
The breakfast buffet at The Living Room was lavish and had a fantastic variety. I especially loved that I got to try so many local Malaysian dishes from my foodie list — Mee Goreng, Appam Balik, and Char Kway Teow were all delicious! The evening cocktails at the Club Lounge were equally wonderful — a great selection of drinks with a lovely dinner spread, making it truly value for money. Between breakfast and the lounge evenings, our meals were completely sorted throughout our stay.
The location couldn’t be better — right in the heart of Bukit Bintang, surrounded by great energy, beautiful lights, and amazing shopping. Pavilion Mall is right across the street and Lot 10 is just a short walk away. I absolutely enjoyed my evening strolls soaking in the city’s vibe.
A big thank you to the team for their warm hospitality and excellent service. Special thanks to Miss Nina at the Front Desk for the lovely upgrade, Mr. Rafique for keeping our room spotless, and Mr. R. Vasu for always greeting us with his infectious smile every time we returned to the hotel.
We truly loved our stay here and I wholeheartedly recommend The Westin Kuala Lumpur to anyone visiting the city. I’m definitely staying here again when I come back to KL!
