Last weekend, we were taking a stroll around Tiong Bahru. No plans. No expectations. And then we spotted Hello Arigato.
Dangerous decision.
What started as a casual coffee stop quickly turned into one of those places you end up talking about afterwards.
Drinks First, Always
Coco Orh Nee Cloud
My wife went for the Coco Orh Nee Cloud. Coconut water topped with taro cold foam.
Visually, it is very aesthetic. Light, creamy, and inviting.
Taste-wise, this was the real surprise. The matcha is never overpowering, which I really appreciate. You can still clearly taste the coconut water and the taro foam. Smooth, balanced, super refreshing. Easy recommend.
Flat White
I went for a flat white. They use a dark roast.
No acidity, which I like. It does lean slightly fruity, so it is not my favourite cup ever, but it is still a solid coffee. And yes, I am very picky with coffee.
Then Came the Food
Chicken Katsu SandoWe shared the chicken katsu sando, and this is where Hello Arigato really shines.
Soft Japanese milk bread, beautifully toasted.
Juicy chicken with a proper crisp coating.
Sweet tonkatsu sauce.
And that pickled apple slaw cuts through everything perfectly.
Comforting, well-balanced, and very satisfying.
The Space and Vibe
Hello, Arigato has that cosy, chill Tiong Bahru energy. It feels relaxed, not rushed. The kind of place you can sit, talk, sip, and forget about time for a bit.
Solid food. Calm vibes. Thoughtfully done.
Final Thoughts
Hello,o Arigato is one of those places that works because nothing is trying too hard—good drinks, good food, and a space that feels welcoming.
Se, have you tried Hello Arigato yet?
And if you have, what did you order and what did you think?

that said, the food is great as usual. the carbonara udon was flavourful without being too jelak, the mentaiko fries were perfectly crispy, and the strawberry matcha clouds are always a must-order for us.

Food was served prompty. I like that they have free water at the side. Carbonara udon was so so but we enjoyed the mentaiko fries, they were piping hot!
We picked the outlet exclusive chicken thigh sandos. It was juicy and delicious.
Overall, 5/5 for the place and the service.

We went to the Tiong Bahru outlet nestled within the shophouses near the market, and, probably due to the timing (1030am) were able to score a seat at the counter (all the tables were full). Later as we were leaving we spied that there was a queue to enter so it is a definitely a popular place whether it be between meals but definitely over lunchtime.
The lattes were bang on as we expected. But I was REALLY impressed by the fries; THE FRIES. They were cut to the perfect thickness, not those thin one dimensional shoestring ones, nor too thick till the main taste is the taste of the starchy centre. It is the perfect ratio of a crispy exterior and a soft airy centre. We had the truffle mayo version and the dip was good too; though I’ld be very contented to eat the fries alone.
My wife wasnt too hungry so she had the Crispy Brussel Sprouts which wss gd, but truth be told fried/air fried brussel sprouts always tastes good; its really hard to ruin it.
I had the Gyu Sando which was not bad. I guess the fries really took 1st place among the savoury items we ordered. Didnt order the carbonara though it looked excellent as the waiter scooted one past us, will try that next time.
For dessert we had the Pistachio Basque Cheese Cake which was a collab with Paparch and again we were mindblown. Unless you have some allergy it would be a sin not to try this. SAVE SOME SPACE FOR CHEESECAKE.
