12 November 2024 – Garuda Indonesia and Singapore Airlines (SIA) are set to enhance connectivity between Jakarta and Singapore, increasing flight frequencies and deepening their commercial partnership. This strategic move will meet the growing demand between these major Southeast Asian hubs and provide travellers with more seamless and flexible travel options.

Starting 22 November 2024, Singapore Airlines will expand its services from six to eight daily flights between Jakarta and Singapore. Meanwhile, Garuda Indonesia will increase its daily flights on this route from four to six, beginning 1 December 2024. With these additions, both airlines will offer travellers increased capacity, enhanced schedule flexibility, and more seamless connections.

Expanded Codeshare and Enhanced Frequent Flyer Benefits

To further strengthen their collaboration, Garuda Indonesia and Singapore Airlines are extending their codeshare agreement to include these new services, enabling smoother travel experiences between the two countries. Both airlines operate codeshare flights on multiple routes, connecting Singapore to four Indonesian cities – Denpasar, Jakarta, Medan, Surabaya – and London and Mumbai. By 1 December 2024, the total weekly codeshare services between Singapore and Indonesia will reach 362.

The partnership will also offer more value to frequent flyers. Beginning in the first quarter of 2025, GarudaMiles and KrisFlyer members can earn and redeem miles on expanded codeshare routes, making it even easier for loyal customers to enjoy their benefits while exploring new destinations.

Joint Fare Products and Future Collaboration

With Singapore’s approval of its commercial joint venture in July 2024, the airlines plan to launch joint fare products in early 2025. This will allow travellers to book flights between Singapore and Indonesian cities like Denpasar, Jakarta, and Surabaya on a single itinerary, covering both Garuda Indonesia and Singapore Airlines flights.

This collaboration promises even more excellent customer benefits. Future initiatives could include joint revenue-sharing flights, coordinated flight schedules to optimize connectivity and joint sales and marketing activities.

Leaders from both airlines have expressed their commitment to strengthening ties between Indonesia and Singapore and supporting post-pandemic tourism recovery.
