A Rooftop Gelato Stop in the Heart of Newmarket
Sometimes you are not even looking for dessert, and that is exactly when you find a good one. We were wandering around Newmarket and ended up heading up to the rooftop at 309 Broadway, where Island Gelato Co sits quietly waiting to surprise you.
Bright. Relaxed. Open air. It already felt like the right decision before we even ordered.
The Waffle Cone That Steals the Show
We went for the waffle cone, and I need to say this upfront. It is AMAZING. Fresh. Crunchy. Properly fragrant. The kind of cone that matters just as much as what goes inside it.
We chose three flavours, and honestly, it was hard to stop there.

Mint Chocolate Crunch Gelato
This one is done properly. Just enough mint to keep things fresh without tipping into overpowering peppermint territory. Smooth. Balanced. Very easy to keep going back for another bite.
Salted Caramel & White Chocolate Swirl Gelato
This was nuts. Wow and wow again. Rich caramel, creamy white chocolate and that salt hitting at exactly the right time. Dangerous in the best possible way.
Biscoff Tiramisu Gelato
My favourite. No debate. Give me a whole tub, and I will demolish it. Deep Biscoff flavour, tiramisu vibes, creamy and indulgent. The only reason I stopped was lactose and a ten-hour flight ahead. Otherwise, I would not have shared, and I am being honest.
