A New Middle Eastern Spot in Pakuranga

Today, I’m taking you to a brand-new spot in Pakuranga called Kohkoz. This five-star Middle Eastern joint has been getting a lot of attention, and after visiting, I can see exactly why.

From the moment you pull into the driveway, you are welcomed by a huge Arabic sign that instantly sets the tone. You already know this place is serious about its roots.

First Impressions and Atmosphere

Step inside, and you are greeted with a really nice touch. Two tables are set up, one with Middle Eastern nuts and the other with dips for you to try. It is simple, thoughtful, and instantly makes you feel at home.

The service stood out straight away. I was welcomed by a super-friendly guy who actually called me by my first name. That small detail alone makes the experience feel personal and warm.

What I Ordered

I went for a beef shawarma with fries and a Pepsi Max.
The combo came to $27, while the shawarma alone is $16.

Straight up, this felt like a solid deal considering the quality and portion size.

The Fries Deserve a Mention

Now let us talk about the fries. Crispy, golden, and topped with garlic-hummus dip. They looked incredible and tasted even better. This is not just a side you forget about. The flavour takes them to another level.

The Shawarma Experience

Then came the star of the show. The beef shawarma. Packed with tender meat, fresh vegetables, and pickles, all wrapped perfectly.

One bite in, and it genuinely tasted like the real deal back in Lebanon. The balance of flavours was spot on, comforting, familiar, and very satisfying.Final Thoughts

I absolutely enjoyed my meal at Kohkoz, and I will definitely be coming back. If you are in Pakuranga and craving proper Middle Eastern flavours, this spot deserves to be on your list.

Go check it out for yourself and let me know what you think.

Best middle eastern food I’ve had! All of the flavors were on point, ingredients were fresh, ambiance was amazing, and service was impeccable. Having been to the middle east a few times and visiting from the US, I wasn’t sure what to expect but this restaurant blew me away. Loved the mix plate and shawarma. Would definitely come back 🤩
Enjoyed our ordes, nice place, friendly staff, reasonable price. They have a mini market that offers range of snacks.

Hidden gem in plain sight!

I just visited this place (familiar from Howick Saturday markets) and had the most amazing freshly-made chicken wrap with their famous garlic whip ‘toum’. It was a late lunch and there was more than ample space to sit down and enjoy. I will definitely come back again and support this friendly establishment serving delicious food and dinner-enhancing foodstuffs to take home 💚

Kohkoz are among the best eats in Auckland. First came across them at Clevedon Farmers Market and started ordering a lot from them during the lockdowns from 2020 to 2022.

Am truly addicted to their food and dips and was pleased and surprised they were taking the next step and opening a bricks and mortar store.

The food here is just as fantastic as ever and Natalie (the owner) is incredibly friendly. It’s not on my side of town but I will always stop by whenever I’m in the neighbourhood. 😇

Definitely the most authentic and the BEST shawarma and falafel in NZ. They have a wide range of dips and snacks that you can buy . The owner was very friendly and gave us the Zaatar man’ouche for free !! Huge space for large gathering’s and great ambience ..This is going to be our go to spot for sure !HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

FAQ:

No, even though they do not serve pork I did not see halal sign at the store

A shawarma on its own costs $16. The combo with fries and a drink is $27.

The welcoming service, authentic flavours, and small thoughtful touches like complimentary nuts and dips make it stand out.

If you enjoy authentic Middle Eastern food and good shawarma, it is absolutely worth a visit.
