Why I Took the MRT in Kuala Lumpur
Some of you have been telling me to do more travel content and less food. So today, I am taking you underground in Kuala Lumpur to show you one of the easiest ways to get around the city.
This is the Kuala Lumpur MRT.
Yes, MRT.
In Europe, it is called the Metro. In the UK, it is the Underground or the Tube. In the US, it is Subway. Here it is, MRT. Different names, same idea. An underground train system that helps you avoid traffic stress completely.
How Much Does the Kuala Lumpur MRT Cost
The first surprise was the price.
It costs just one ringgit twenty per person for two stations.
That is cheaper than a coffee and far better than sitting in Kuala Lumpur traffic. For short trips around the city, the MRT is incredibly good value and makes moving around quick and painless.
Clean Stations and Easy-to-Use Trains
The stations are spotless, modern, and fully air-conditioned. Honestly, they are as good as anywhere in the world. Everything feels well organised, from the platforms to the ticketing machines.
The ride itself is smooth and quiet. The signage is clear, the routes are easy to understand, and even if it is your first time in Kuala Lumpur, you will not feel lost. It is one of those transport systems that just works.
My Travel Payment Tip When Using Public Transport
Quick travel tip.
When I travel, I always use my wife’s Wise card. I can track every spend, get exchange rates that are almost identical to what you see on Google, and freeze the card instantly if anything feels off. It gives real peace of mind when travelling overseas.

Should You Use the MRT When Visiting Kuala Lumpur
If you are visiting Kuala Lumpur, skip the car.
Use the MRT.
It is cheap, clean, efficient, and genuinely enjoyable to use. It saves time, avoids traffic, and makes exploring the city far more relaxed.
So tell me.
Do you explore cities underground, or do you prefer braving the traffic above?
