Noodle Canteen Windsor Park Review | Black Bean Beef Noodles on East Coast Road
Noodle Canteen Windsor Park Review – A Solid Return After a Long Break
Giving Noodle Canteen another go
We have not had Noodle Canteen for a while. The last branch we tried was the Birkenhead location back in July 2024, and at the time, we felt the quality had slipped. Because of that, we stayed away for a bit. Today, we decided to give it another go and headed to Noodle Canteen on East Coast Road.
Location and pricing
This branch is located atfour4 slash 544 East Coast Road in Windsor Park, making it a convenient stop if you are already in the area. Pricing was very reasonable, with our dish coming in at $16.50, which is still a good value by Auckland standards.
What we ordered
We ordered the black bean beef noodles and asked for some chilli on the side. Simple order, nothing fancy, but a good way to judge consistency and flavour.

Taste and portion size
The portion was very generous, and that was a good sign straight away. The flavour was spot on—rich black bean sauce, well-balanced and not overpowering. The yellow noodles held up well and did their job without going soggy.
The beef was of good quality, tender enough, and cooked correctly, which made the dish enjoyable from start to finish. Adding the chilli on the side gave it an extra kick when needed.

I wasn’t there to buy food — I urgently needed a plastic bag because my son was suddenly feeling very sick and about to vomit. I explained the situation to the lady at the counter, and she told me I had to pay $0.20 for the bag because they buy them from supermarkets. I understand there may be costs involved — that’s not the issue. The issue is: is 20 cents more important than a sick child’s immediate need?
I said okay, I’ll pay — I just needed the bag right away. But instead of helping, she answered a phone call and made me wait for several minutes while my son was clearly in distress. When I finally got the bag, I gave it to my son and then asked for a water bottle. But honestly, after that display of inhumanity, I didn’t want to support them any further.
I rushed next door to Boss Sushi — not only did they give me a water bottle, but also another bag, completely free, within 30 seconds. They were kind, caring, and told me to run to my son. That’s the New Zealand spirit I believe in — empathy and humanity over profit.
Noodle Canteen might serve food, but they clearly lack heart.
(Both of the businesses have staff from the same country.)
Not sure if its because theyre closing soon, or bad stock, but the flavour is missing its sweetness!!!
The pineapple is flavourless and had no juice to the TWO pieces I could find amoungst my meal....
I hate to waste food but this is definately NOT what i paid for =(
